Our screened in porch was built as lovely as we hoped. RIS listened to everything we wanted in our space and was able to make it happen. We were given a quote on the same day and detailed drawings to help us understand and envision the porch. He patiently answered our questions and made recommendations on materials. We have been enjoying the porch every day.

We hired RIS to build a new maintenance free deck on our home. From coming to my house on Memorial Day Monday for a free estimate to completing the project on time and within budget they were 5+ stars all the way. Raymond had great ideas and the final product was very well built and well designed. The creative additions of using slate on our deck and a rectangle pavilion pushed the project beyond our expectations. We would not hesitate to use them and will use them when we are ready for the pool phase of our yard. They were all very friendly, worked most weekends and were very neat.
My wife and I had the pleasure of working with Ray and his crew in completing a new deck, new large French doors to our house and stairs cascading to our pool. My wife and I were very happy with the services provided by RIS during our patio/driveway construction project. The work involved the installation of a backyard flagstone patio with a natural stone sitting wall, an exposed aggregate driveway with brick soldier course borders, and a gravel walkway with flagstone steppers. We liked Ray’s original design, both in terms of esthetics and practicality, but also appreciated his responsiveness to our extensive list of questions, and suggestions for improvements (even some last minute changes). We were very pleased that the project was completed in a timely manner, before the advent of the winter holidays. At the end, we only had one minor follow up request, which was resolved to our satisfaction. We will be happy to recommend highly RIS for any hardscaping projects.
We had reached out to Raymond for a quote and some ideas on the best options for our deck. Raymond was very professional and came to our house to assess our options and provide some ideas on what he thought might align best with our design goals. Raymond was able to provide us valuable information to make an informed decision. The work was completed as promised, on time and within budget. I would proudly recommend Raymond for consideration of other's projects and would not hesitate to call him again for projects we have in mind.
For our 50 Anniversary my wife and I decided to complete our home with a screen room and adjacent two level deck with wrap around cascading stairs and a stone work landing. It became a challenging design as the gable screen room roof intersected an existing gable roof of the main house in sort of a big W shape. My wife also wanted an unobstructed view of our mountain property and gardens, therefore the 20 feet of wrap around stairs.
After getting 4 bids from reputable contractors we choose R.I.S. for several reasons. I was very impressed with Ray's knowledge and the extra time he spent with us and the patience he showed answering my dozens of questions about plans, footers, framing, materials, roof designs, codes, etc. He returned several times and worked with us on our design and plans and answered even more of my unending questions. His bid came in at a very reasonable price beating out several others. Ray also presented a very complete portfolio of examples of past jobs that were well made and absolutely gorgeous. He even took time to take us to two completed projects to see first hand. We were sold.
I also have to complement Ray's crew for the quality work they preformed. His head carpenter and foreman, Levi, preformed a fabulous job. He told me the first day his job was to make me happy and do what ever it took. He entertained my questions and exhibited a lot of patience with my daily observations as the work progressed. He and his crew showed up early and didn't stop work until late every day with only a 1/2 hour lunch break. I have never seen such a hard working group. Any concerns or problems were cheerfully corrected without any additional charge or griping. When the framing of the screen room required tying in the gable room into the house I was rather nervous as it was predicting rain the next day. Levi told me not to worry that they were not going to leave until the roof was water tight. They worked over 14 hours that day and left after dark only after the roof was shingled and water tight. This was the type of work ethic that one hope for and is very rare. The finished product complements our house and blends in to the existing design perfectly, we are very happy with the result.
Ray and Levi are a good team and I miss seeing them each day and having our conversations. You cannot go wrong this this team. We will definitely call them back in the future for our planned stone patio and fire place with adjacent stream.
I cannot say enough positive things about Residential Improvement Services. We'd been planning this project (four seasons room and large deck) for years and it turned out even better than we could have dreamed. The project came in on budget and was finished on time, with no calls back of corrections. Family and friends cannot believe how quickly this home/life transforming project was completed. The added internal square footage and awesome deck make our house feel like a totally different home. Design. Outstanding. Ray LISTENED to our input and delivered EXACTLY what we wanted. He was well versed in the arduous local codes (Montgomery County) and understood the project limits and boundaries, making permitting much easier (and faster) than expected. Other builders either said we simply could not do what we envisioned or they gave us outrageous quotes. Ray understood what we wanted and our budget and made it work. Supervision / management. Extraordinary. When there was work being done, Ray was on-site. The team was friendly, polite, clean etc. and worked seamlessly. They kept everything clean and put everything way everyday when they were finished. They focused on their own safety while they were working and also were mindful of our children and pets (dog), e.g. the kept the fence closed etc. Value / craftsmanship. Exceptional. Although the project came in at the quoted price, it was actually much less expensive than we thought it would be based on other quotes. The attention to detail (matched internal and external trim without being asked, etc.) and high quality craftsmanship greatly exceeded out expectations. Bottomline: Would we recommended him to friends? YES, YES, YES. We were referred to him by two different neighbors and we have already recommended him to others with absolutely no reservations. If / when we do additional projects, we won't shop around; we'll go with RIS without any question
